The Background of the Eight & Bob Range

We mentioned the story behind the brand, and it’s one worth sharing! The name comes from an exchange between Albert Fouquet, a perfume connoisseur from an aristocratic French family, and John F. Kennedy, who met on holiday in the Côte d'Azur in 1937. 

JFK, then a student, received a bottle of Albert’s personally designed scent with a note joking about how his American charm needed a little French glamour. He replied, requesting eight samples to share with his friends and an extra for Bob—and the name was born.

 As requests began pouring in from the Hollywood elite, including James Stewart and Cary Grant, Albert refined his formula but sadly passed away in an accident, with his father hiding his bottles to prevent them from being seized during the Second World War.

Years later, the brand was revived, retaining the original craftsmanship used in the perfume’s design and creation, focused on the finest natural ingredients and elegant packaging. 

The exclusivity of the ranges, which are often made in small batches due to the extremely limited supply of some of the rare and valuable ingredients, has drawn sustained interest from across the perfume world, with the collections extended to home scents that are ethical, beautiful, and quintessentially French.
